NYPD searches for suspect accused of attacking man boarding a 5 train
NEW YORK, N.Y. — A morning commute turned violent in the Bronx when a man waiting to board a northbound 5 train was slashed in the neck following a dispute on a subway platform, according to the NYPD.
Police said the attack happened at about 8:35 a.m. Sunday at the East 180th Street subway station, within the confines of the 48th Precinct.
Investigators said a 45-year-old man was waiting on the northbound platform when another man pushed him as they were entering the train.
The confrontation escalated into a verbal dispute before the suspect allegedly slashed the victim in the neck with an unknown object.
Police have not released the victim’s condition or provided additional details about the weapon.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been identified.
