WASHINGTON, DC – A fatal shooting incident in Southwest Washington, D.C., is currently under active investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch following the death of an unidentified man.

The incident occurred early yesterday morning, around 4:25 a.m., in the 600 block of Maryland Avenue. Responding to the shooting report, officers discovered the victim with gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld until his family is notified. Meanwhile, investigators have obtained footage of the suspect from nearby surveillance cameras, aiding in the ongoing search.
