Surveillance footage cracks DC shooting case wide open

Suspect tracked down after Northwest shooting sends victim to hospital

Washington, DC — A shooting in Northwest D.C. that left a man wounded ended with an arrest after investigators used video evidence to identify the suspect.

The incident occurred around 6:03 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of W Street Northwest. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found evidence of a shooting, but no victim at the scene.

A short time later, an adult male walked into a nearby hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage, which showed the suspect firing in the direction of the victim. The footage led to the identification of 23-year-old Darius Jason Brown of Northwest.

Brown was located and taken into custody. He has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).

The investigation remains ongoing.
