Gunman storms DC shops in back to back Washington Place robberies

Washington, DC – A brazen gunman is still on the loose after pulling off a pair of armed robbery attempts at businesses just minutes apart along a busy Northeast corridor.

The incidents unfolded Friday evening around 7 p.m. in the 2300 block of Washington Place, where a suspect entered two separate establishments brandishing a handgun and demanding cash from employees.

In the first incident, investigators say the suspect approached the register, displayed a firearm, and demanded money. Employees complied, and the suspect fled the scene with cash.

Moments later, the same suspect targeted another business on the same block, again pulling a gun and demanding money from the register. That attempt was cut short when customers entered the store, prompting the suspect to flee empty-handed.

Both incidents were captured on surveillance video, and investigators believe the same individual is responsible for the armed robbery and the attempted armed robbery.

Detectives are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Anyone with information is urged to call 202-727-9099 or submit a tip by text to 50411.
