Suspect Apprehended in Abingdon Shooting

Abingdon, MD* – A 41-year-old man has been detained in connection with a shooting that occurred in Abingdon on Monday afternoon.

Deputies from the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office were deployed to the 3500 block of Woodsdale Road at approximately 4:05 p.m. They discovered Eric Chi Fonong Igwacho, 27, with a gunshot wound to his lower body. First aid was administered until medics arrived, and Igwacho was then taken to a local trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division took over the case, with assistance from Forensic Services, K9, and Drone Units. The investigation identified Justin Matthew Schlotterbeck of Aberdeen as the suspect. Detectives secured an arrest warrant for attempted 1st degree murder among other charges, and Schlotterbeck was located in his vehicle outside his home and detained without incident. A disassembled handgun was found in his vehicle.
