Suspect Apprehended in D.C. Trio of Armed Carjackings

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A breakthrough in a series of violent carjackings has led to the arrest of Junious Plummer, 35, of Southeast, D.C., charged with three counts of Armed Carjacking in the Sixth District. The incidents occurred between August and December of last year, terrorizing victims with threats and physical violence.

The first reported attack happened on August 11, 2023, when Plummer allegedly forced victims out of their car at gunpoint on Dix Street, Northeast. A similar pattern of violence and theft followed on October 18, 2023, at a gas station on Hunt Place, Northeast, and again on December 18, 2023, on Minnesota Avenue, Northeast, with the latter involving a rifle.

Yesterday’s arrest resulted from a collaboration between the D.C. Metro Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force and the FBI’s Washington Field Office’s Violent Crimes Task Force. The Metropolitan Police Department extends its gratitude for the crucial federal assistance in apprehending Plummer.

Authorities continue to investigate the December carjacking and urge anyone with information to contact the police at (202) 727-9099 or use the TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
