Suspect arrested for murder after shooting in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FL – On Monday, May 3, 2021 the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1200 Block of Arlington Road in reference to an armed individual.

As officers were arriving, they observed an individual point a rifle at another individual and subsequently fire multiple rounds towards him. The victim was struck multiple times, along with a nearby business. The suspect immediately attempted to flee, however, responding officers were able to take him into custody without further incident.

The victim, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, was transported to a local hospital but ultimately died from the injuries sustained in the shooting.

JSO Homicide Detectives, along with the Crime Scene Unit, were notified and responded to conduct their respective investigations. Following the immediate investigation, the suspect was identified as James Lamar Taylor Jr., (Black/Male 27). After being interviewed, he was arrested for Murder and Aggravated Assault.
