July 4, 2024

MAYS LANDING, NJ—A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday at around 5:19 p.m., when the Hamilton Township Police Department was called to a stabbing at 789 Park Road. Upon arrival, officers found 49-year-old Solomon Lonner of Lakewood, NJ, suffering from multiple stab wounds inside his own residence.

Lonner, the homeowner, was urgently transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. Michael Carney, 39, from Mays Landing, who also resided at the Park Road home as a tenant, was detained at the scene.

Carney has been charged with murder and related weapons offenses. The residence was shared by several individuals who rented from Lonner. The exact cause and manner of Lonner’s death will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and the Hamilton Township Police Department are jointly investigating the case.
