KINSTON, N.C. – Kinston Police have arrested Devonte Cantey, 23, in relation to a double shooting that took place on Thursday.
Cantey is now facing charges which include two counts of Attempted Murder, Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Vehicle, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Both victims, Tabias Williams and Tamir Cobb, were discovered with multiple gunshot injuries on the 400 block of Clay Street around 1:30 p.m.
They were airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center and are in critical condition. The initial investigation suggests the shooting followed a dispute, after which the shooter fled. Cantey was apprehended without any complications.
The Kinston Police Department is actively seeking more information about the incident and asked the public to come forward with any relevant details.
