Suspect charged for armed robbery of Bethesda Apple Store

BETHESDA – A man who robbed a Bethesda Apple store at gunpoint two weeks ago has been identified and arrested after an investigation by detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division.

32-year-old Tyrone Lamont Jones of Capitol Heights, MD, was charged with the armed robbery of the Apple store in the 4000 block of Bethesda Ave.

According to police, at approximately 6 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the location for the report of an armed robbery that just occurred.

“The investigation by detectives has determined that Jones arrived at the location in a gold Cadillac and entered the store. After having a brief conversation with an employee about purchasing some electronic merchandise, Jones produced a semiautomatic handgun with a gold slide and an extended magazine and demanded the items,” the Montgomery County Police Department said in a statement. “The employee handed over the merchandise to Jones, who then exited the store and left the scene in the gold Cadillac.”

Jones was arrested on November 3rd while driving the vehicle identified during his robbery escape.

Police said more evidence connecting Jones to the robbery was found inside the car. He was arrested and charged with armed robbery. He is being held without bail.
