Suspect Charged in Deadly Shooting in Manassas

MANASSAS, VA—A significant breakthrough has occurred in the homicide investigation of a shooting that took place on May 23 in the 12000 block of Cadet Ct., Manassas. Detectives have arrested 26-year-old Tavaris Maleek Eberhardt, already detained for unrelated charges, linking him to the fatal incident.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old Carlos Marcell Moore of Manassas, was involved in a verbal altercation with Eberhardt near a vehicle on the evening of May 22. The dispute escalated, and during the early hours of May 23, Eberhardt reportedly fired multiple rounds into the vehicle, fatally wounding Moore. Further investigations revealed that Eberhardt attempted to tamper with evidence at the scene before police arrival.

A search conducted on a storage unit rented by Eberhardt resulted in the discovery of two firearms, though neither was used in the shooting. Eberhardt has been charged with murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with evidence. He is currently held without bond, with a court date pending.

Police responded to the incident initially on May 23 at 2:42 AM after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Moore deceased inside the vehicle, and another uninjured man who was present during the shooting. The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to piece together the events leading to the tragedy. The incident is not believed to be random, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in the investigation.
