Suspect Charged in Fatal Prince George’s County Shooting

June 7, 2024

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD—Detectives from the Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit have charged 21-year-old Erick Pineda of Silver Spring in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in May. The victim, 20-year-old Kevin Moscoso-Lopez of Adelphi, was killed during the incident.

The shooting took place on May 15, 2024, around 3:40 PM in the 1900 block of Erie Street. Upon arrival, police officers found Moscoso-Lopez outside with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation suggests that the shooting stemmed from an argument between the suspect and the victim, who were known to each other.

Pineda has been charged with first and second degree murder, among other related charges, and is currently held in the custody of the Department of Corrections. The police are urging anyone with further information about this case to contact a Homicide Unit detective at 301-516-2512.
