Suspect wanted after teen girl struck with hard hat in East Village attack

New York, NY – Police are searching for a suspect accused of attacking a young woman with a construction hard hat late at night in Manhattan’s East Village, escalating concerns over random acts of violence in the area. The incident left an 18-year-old woman injured after she was followed off a city bus, authorities said.

The assault occurred around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, near East 10th Street and Avenue C within the 9th Precinct. According to NYPD Crimestoppers, the suspect followed an 18-year-old female and a 19-year-old male after they exited an M14 bus before launching the attack.

Police said the individual “proceeded to strike the 18-year-old female in the head with a construction hard hat” before attempting to flee the scene.
