SWAT Team Facilitates Peaceful Surrender of Fugitive in Carnegie

CARNEGIE, PA – A fugitive wanted by the City of Pittsburgh was arrested early this morning after a standoff with law enforcement in Carnegie. The Allegheny County Police Department’s SWAT team was called to assist at the scene following a tense situation that began around 4:30 AM on Knox Avenue.

Initially responding to a medical call, local officers learned that a fugitive might be staying at the address. Upon confirmation of his presence, a perimeter was established, and efforts to coax the suspect outside began.

Although the suspect briefly exited the residence, he quickly retreated inside, prompting Carnegie Police to request the aid of the SWAT team.

Negotiators and SWAT personnel employed strategic measures including the use of gas, which ultimately led to the suspect surrendering peacefully. He was then taken into custody by Carnegie Police and transported to Allegheny County Jail without further incident.

This successful resolution prevented any harm to the community and law enforcement personnel involved.
