Swimmer dies after rescue by sea isle city beach patrol at jersey shore

Sea Isle City, NJ — A swimmer died after being rescued from the ocean by the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol on Friday afternoon, according to city officials.

Emergency crews responded at approximately 4 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of a man who had gone underwater off the coast of Sea Isle City.

Lifeguards with the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol located the unidentified swimmer and brought him to shore, where first responders immediately began life-saving measures.

Victim later pronounced dead

The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of family members.

Investigation continues

Officials said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, and no additional details were immediately available.

The death marks another reminder of the dangers swimmers can face in the ocean, even during guarded beach hours, as officials continue working to determine what led to the incident.
