Pedestrian Accident on Stony Point Road Results in Fatality

**Charlottesville, VA** – The Albemarle County Police Department and Fire Rescue responded to an incident on Thursday at around 7 PM involving a vehicle and pedestrians on Stony Point Road near Riverside Shops Way.

Six pedestrians were attempting to cross the road when a southbound sedan struck four individuals, including a 38-year-old woman and three children aged 3 years, 1.5 years, and 4 months. Two juveniles were not hit and required no medical attention. The driver remained on the scene and was unharmed.

All the children were taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The 38-year-old woman also received treatment for serious injuries. Sadly, the 4-month-old child passed away on Wednesday due to the injuries sustained.

Authorities are seeking witnesses and encourage those with information to contact the ACPD Traffic Unit or Crime Stoppers. The incident is under investigation by the Crash Reconstruction Team.

Fatal Collision on Hallowing Point Road

**Prince Frederick, MD** – On Monday, at approximately 7:12 a.m., the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal vehicle collision on Hallowing Point Road, also known as Rt. 231. Deputies confirmed the death of one driver upon arrival, leading to the Crash Reconstruction Unit’s involvement for further investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicles involved were a 2022 Hyundai Kona, a 2019 Ford Fusion, and a 2020 Nissan Rogue. Gina Taylor Johnson, 51, from Mechanicsville, operated the Hyundai Kona eastbound when it collided with the Nissan Rogue driven by Carla Jean Poole, 52, from Hughesville. The Rogue also collided with the Ford Fusion driven by 19-year-old Stacey Breanna Herbert from Lexington Park.

Medical personnel declared Johnson dead at the scene, while Poole was airlifted to a trauma center in critical condition. Herbert and a juvenile passenger were also taken to CalvertHealth Medical Center by ground transportation.

The cause of the Rogue crossing the double yellow line remains unknown. The Crash Reconstruction Team, led by M/DFC Hardesty, seeks any witness accounts of the incident. Witnesses are encouraged
