Teen Arrested for Bringing BB Gun to Sussex Central High School

GEORGETOWN, DE — A 17-year-old student was arrested at Sussex Central High School for possession of a BB gun on school premises on December 20.

Delaware State Police responded to the school, located at 26026 Patriots Way, around 10:13 a.m. after reports of the student displaying the firearm and causing alarm by racking the slide of the weapon. School Resource Officers and Constables were able to detain the teenager.

A search revealed the BB gun in the student’s possession. He was then taken to Troop 4 and faces several charges, including Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony), Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone (Felony), and Disorderly Conduct.

Following arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 3, the student was committed to Stevenson House Detention Center, with a secured bond set at $2,001.
