Teen carjacker tracked by scooter GPS busted hours after targeting elderly victim
Baltimore, MD — A 69-year-old man was robbed of his scooter on a city street before investigators quickly traced the stolen vehicle to a nearby block, leading to the arrest of a teenage suspect and another juvenile already wanted by authorities.
The incident occurred on April 10 in the 800 block of University Parkway, where police said the elderly victim was carjacked of his scooter. Officers from the Northern District Action Team began searching for the stolen vehicle shortly after the report.
Using tracking information, investigators located the scooter in the 2200 block of Kirk Avenue. At that location, officers arrested a 15-year-old male in connection with the carjacking.
During the same operation, police also took a 14-year-old male into custody at the residence. Authorities said the younger teen had an active warrant for removing his ankle monitor and was known to law enforcement due to prior robbery-related arrests.
Both juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Justice Center, where they were charged in connection with their respective cases.
The investigation remains ongoing.
