Teen charged after golf cart burglary at Valley View Golf Course in Utica

July 6, 2025

UTICA, N.Y. — A 16-year-old has been charged following a burglary at Valley View Golf Course early Thursday morning, in which multiple golf carts were stolen and driven through the surrounding neighborhood, Utica Police said.

At approximately 2:10 a.m. on July 3, officers responded to the golf course for a report of a burglary involving stolen golf carts. Upon arrival, police learned that individuals had entered the fenced storage area and drove through the fencing to leave the premises with the carts.

While investigating, officers observed two carts being driven across the Parkway onto Clementian Street. As officers attempted to stop them, the individuals abandoned the carts and fled on foot through nearby yards.

Additional officers canvassing the area located several more golf carts on Valley View Road and surrounding locations. Police detained several juveniles near the golf course in connection with the incident.

A Juvenile Aid investigator took over the case due to the ages of those involved. After reviewing video surveillance, authorities determined that one of the detained juveniles matched the description of a person seen entering the fenced area.

The 16-year-old was charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to identify others who may have been involved.
