Teen Charged with Robbery After Incident at South Utica Price Chopper

UTICA, N.Y. — On July 17, 2024, Utica Police responded to a robbery call at the South Utica Price Chopper.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with Loss Prevention Associates who reported observing a male suspect concealing items and attempting to leave the store without paying. When approached, the suspect assaulted an employee and fled the scene.

Using the description provided, officers located the suspect a short distance away. The individual initially refused to comply with officers’ commands but was eventually detained. It was determined that the suspect was a 15-year-old male, who was subsequently transported home.

The case was assigned to the Juvenile Aid Unit. Following their investigation, the 15-year-old was charged with robbery in the third degree.

The Utica Police Department continues to address such incidents to ensure community safety.
