ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A 17-year-old male remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition after being struck in a hit-and-run early Thursday morning at the intersection of American Parkway and Gordon Street, according to Allentown police.

The crash occurred around 3:40 a.m. when a dark-colored sedan hit the victim as he crossed the street. The driver fled south on American Parkway immediately after the collision, police said.

Authorities reviewed city surveillance footage and later identified the vehicle involved. The driver, a 22-year-old man, surrendered to investigators Thursday afternoon, provided a statement, and was released pending the outcome of the accident reconstruction investigation. The vehicle has been taken into police custody.

The case remains under investigation by the Allentown Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office. Police are asking witnesses to contact Officer Shedaker at 610-437-7721 ext. 2574 or email Philip.shedaker@allentownpa.gov.
