Teen fatally shot in Glassport; suspect detained after bus escape attempt

GLASSPORT, Pa. – Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old male in Glassport after a physical altercation escalated to gunfire on the 500 block of Monongahela Avenue.

Allegheny County 911 received reports of the shooting at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Friday. Responding officers and paramedics found the victim deceased at the scene.

Witnesses told police that the suspect, who had been involved in a fight with the victim and another male, fled the scene by boarding a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus. Clairton Police later detained the suspect, according to the Allegheny County Police Department.

The county’s homicide detectives have initiated an investigation, with preliminary details pointing to a physical confrontation that turned deadly when one of the males involved drew a weapon and fired. Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved.

Officials are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
