Teen Girl Murdered in Queens Identified

QUEENS, NY — A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday night when a 17-year-old girl was fatally stabbed in the neck near the intersection of Queens Blvd and 46 Street.

Police and emergency services rushed to the scene following a 911 call made at approximately 9:25 PM, within the jurisdiction of the 108th Precinct.

Upon arrival, officers found Sara Rivera, a resident of Queens, with a severe stab wound. She was quickly transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she was pronounced deceased by the hospital staff. Authorities have taken a person of interest into custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.

According to the New York Post, Rivera, 17, was allegedly drinking with pals in a park near the 46th station in Sunnyside around 9:30 p.m. when she got into a fatal dispute with a 15-year-old acquaintance.

“She told me that they were drinking and she was seeing [the suspect] getting very mad and angry,” Rivera’s friend, 16-year-old Yanira Leon, told The Post on Thursday. “Nobody really knows what happened after that.”
