LAKE WORTH, Fla. — A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in Lake Worth on Friday evening after a group of juveniles mishandled a firearm, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a reported shooting around 5:10 p.m. in the 5000 block of Edgecliff Avenue, where they found the victim dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division determined that the shooting was unintentional but resulted from reckless handling of the weapon. A juvenile was identified and charged with second-degree murder with a firearm and tampering with evidence.
