Teen Killed, Three Others Shot in Dumfries Development

DUMFRIES, VA – A shooting incident late Sunday night in the 3700 block of Masthead Trail has resulted in the death of a 15-year-old male and injuries to three other individuals.

Officers from Prince William County responded to the scene around 10:30 PM following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims with gunshot wounds. Despite immediate first aid efforts and subsequent hospitalization, the young teen succumbed to his injuries.

The scene of the incident, a grassy area behind residential homes, was chaotic as individuals dispersed upon police arrival.

An additional juvenile and two adults were also found to have sustained injuries from the gunfire. A second 16-year-old male suffered a graze wound, while an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old, both from Triangle, presented with more severe gunshot injuries but are expected to survive.

Initial findings by the detectives suggest that the shooting was not a random act.

Authorities are actively following leads to uncover more details about the circumstances leading up to the tragic event. Current Virginia law restricts the release of the deceased minor’s identity. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
