Teen linked to three Silver Spring burglaries at Tobacco Hut

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A teenage boy has been charged in connection with a string of burglaries last month at a Tobacco Hut in Silver Spring, police said Monday.

The Montgomery County Department of Police said the boy entered the store on Dec. 13, Dec. 18, and Dec. 29, stealing merchandise during each visit before fleeing the scene. The Tobacco Hut is located in the 2600 block of University Boulevard West.

Officers tracked down the teen in Germantown on Jan. 7, where he was arrested and charged with four counts of second-degree burglary. Authorities later released him into the custody of his guardian.

Police have not released further information on the stolen merchandise or the teen’s identity due to his age, but the investigation remains active.
