Teen Nabbed After Snatching AirPods on M Street

July 2, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 17-year-old from Northwest D.C. was arrested after police say he stole a pair of AirPods from a pedestrian Monday evening, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The incident happened around 8:10 p.m. in the unit block of M Street NW, where the suspect allegedly approached the victim from behind while the victim was wearing headphones and grabbed the AirPods straight from his ears before fleeing.

Officers in the area responded quickly and apprehended the teen a short time later.

The juvenile suspect was charged with robbery (snatch) and transported for processing.

Investigation remains active

Police did not report any injuries to the victim, and no weapons were involved.

The department reminded residents to stay alert to their surroundings while using electronic devices in public.

No further suspects are being sought in this case.
