BRONX, NY – A 16-year-old boy was wounded Sunday night after a group of four unidentified males opened fire during a street altercation in Mott Haven, according to the New York City Police Department.
The shooting happened around 8:51 p.m. near Brook Avenue and East 148th Street, where the teen was standing when the group approached and began arguing with him.
The confrontation escalated into a fight, and two of the suspects pulled out guns and fired multiple rounds, striking the victim once in the right thigh.
The suspects fled on foot toward Alexander Avenue as police and medics rushed to the scene.
Victim hospitalized in stable condition
EMS transported the teen to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was listed in stable condition. Detectives from the 40th Precinct are handling the investigation.
Police release suspect descriptions
Investigators described the suspects as four males with slim builds and dark complexions.
- The first was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and surgical mask.
- The second wore a black ski mask and gray hoodie.
- The third was seen in a gray hoodie, black pants, and carrying a black backpack.
- The fourth suspect wore a black Nike hoodie, black ski mask, black pants, and white sneakers.
