Teen shot in leg in Far Rockaway, suspect fled on scooter

QUEENS, N.Y. — A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg Wednesday afternoon in Far Rockaway, and the gunman fled the scene on a push scooter, police said.

The shooting occurred around 4:39 p.m. near Beach 51st Street and Beach Channel Drive. According to investigators, the unidentified suspect fired a single round, striking the teen in the right leg before fleeing in an unknown direction.

The victim was transported to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Suspect remains at large

As of Thursday, the suspect has not been apprehended. No description was immediately available beyond the use of a push scooter in the escape.

The NYPD continues to investigate the shooting and is reviewing surveillance footage from the area.
