Jackson Township, NJ – A teenage girl who was struck by a school bus while riding an electric bicycle Sunday morning has died from her injuries, family members confirmed Friday night.

Police said the crash occurred at the intersection of County Line Road and Hope Chapel Road when the girl, identified by family members as “Angie,” was hit by a westbound school bus traveling from Lakewood.

Emergency responders provided aid at the scene before she was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with severe head trauma. She passed away Friday while hospitalized.

The roadway where the crash occurred has no sidewalks and only a narrow shoulder, a concern that has been raised repeatedly by residents in the area.

Crash investigation closes busy intersection

County Line Road eastbound was shut down for several hours following the collision as police and crash investigators reconstructed the scene, documenting evidence and interviewing witnesses.

Officials have not released details on the bus driver or whether any passengers were on board at the time of the crash. No additional injuries were reported.

Police and Ocean County investigators continue to review surveillance and dashcam footage to determine the cause of the crash. No charges have been filed as the investigation remains ongoing.
