WASHINGTON, D.C. — A motorcycle was taken during a carjacking in Northwest D.C. Tuesday night, but swift work by officers and surveillance teams led to the arrests of two teenage suspects.

The incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of U Street, Northwest. Two suspects reportedly confronted a victim, stole property and keys, and fled the area on the victim’s motorcycle.

MPD’s Real Time Crime Center quickly circulated images and the suspects’ travel direction, aiding nearby officers in tracking down the vehicle and suspects.

Soon after the alert, the carjacked motorcycle was found and two teens were apprehended. Investigators confirmed both were connected to the robbery.

A 13-year-old male from Southeast and a 16-year-old male from Northwest were taken into custody. Each has been charged with carjacking.
