A quick gas stop on the way to a family reunion turned into a life-changing moment when a Tennessee woman scratched off a $500K winning ticket in Ohio.
PERRYSBURG, Ohio — A Nashville woman heading to a family reunion made an unexpected detour into lottery fortune after buying a scratch-off ticket during a gas stop in Ohio and winning $500K.
The Ohio Lottery said the woman was traveling through Perrysburg when she stopped for fuel and noticed a $10 Bingo Times 50 Scratch-Off ticket while paying for her gas.
As she played the ticket, she made it to the ninth game card before realizing she had matched the four corners. Then her Bonus Number, G53, completed the winning “X” pattern, making her the game’s grand prize winner of $500K.
The woman told lottery officials, Thanks Ohio Lottery.
Fortunately, she was riding as a passenger because the trip to the family reunion still had to continue after the excitement of the win, according to the Ohio Lottery.
She managed to keep the prize a secret during the reunion but said she plans to do something special for her family and take a trip.
After 26.75% in federal and state taxes, the winner will receive $366,250.
The winning ticket was purchased at S&G #100, located at 10730 Fremont Pike in Perrysburg.
The Ohio Lottery said it has contributed more than $34 billion to education since 1974.
