Tenth District Volunteer Firefighters Train on Vehicle Rescue Techniques

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — Members of the Tenth District Volunteer Fire Department participated in a training session focused on vehicle rescue techniques last night. The session included the use of new equipment acquired through a grant from the Charles County Department of Emergency Services.

The department recently received an “Emergency Plug,” a device designed to deactivate electric vehicles, ensuring the safety of emergency responders while working around them. This addition is part of the department’s efforts to stay updated with the latest safety measures and technologies.

In addition to familiarizing themselves with the Emergency Plug, firefighters also practiced lifting and stabilization techniques. The training included a scenario involving a simulated patient trapped under a school bus, providing a realistic and challenging environment for the volunteers. The Sheff Bus Company contributed to the training by providing a bus for these exercises.

The Tenth District Volunteer Fire Department continues to prioritize the safety and preparedness of its members, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle various emergency situations.
