HOLMDEL, N.J. — A Tesla traveling eastbound on Main Street crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle before crashing into a building early Friday morning, according to the Holmdel Township Police Department.

Authorities reported that the Tesla’s driver experienced a medical emergency just before the crash, which may have contributed to the vehicle crossing into oncoming traffic. Both drivers were taken to Bayshore Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

The business at 37 Main Street has been temporarily closed following the crash, with the township’s construction official ordering a structural evaluation of the building.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Officer Maeve Cosgrove at 732-946-4400 ext. 18118.
