Thief snatches $2,800 necklace in violent Bronx subway robbery

BRONX, NY – A man was beaten and robbed of his necklace aboard a northbound 2 train at the Simpson Street subway station in a brazen daylight attack, police said.

The incident occurred around 5:10 p.m. on October 18.

Authorities said the 39-year-old victim was assaulted by an unidentified man who struck him multiple times before fleeing.

Victim punched and robbed on moving train

According to investigators, the suspect approached the victim inside the subway car, grabbed his necklace, and repeatedly punched him in the face and body. The victim suffered pain and swelling but refused medical attention at the scene.

Suspect fled on foot after attack

After the assault, the attacker fled the train station on foot in an unknown direction. The value of the stolen necklace was estimated at approximately $2,800.

Police release description of suspect

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a black and white shirt, dark shorts with white stripes, and multicolored sneakers.

Police urged anyone with information about the robbery to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline as the investigation continues.
