Three arrested after explosion destroys porta john in Jackson Township park

Three males were arrested Monday evening after a large explosion destroyed a porta john near Flair Ridge Park in Jackson Township, according to police.

At approximately 5:02 p.m., Officers Brown, Fox, Scheuerman, and Elbaum responded to Goldthread Court following a report of a loud explosion. Upon arrival, officers heard another explosion and observed smoke coming from a porta john in the park area.

Three masked males were seen fleeing on foot along nearby power lines. Officers pursued the suspects and successfully intercepted them on a trail exit. A 21-year-old male, a 23-year-old male, and a 17-year-old male were taken into custody.

Police said the porta john had been burned and melted as a result of the explosion. All three individuals were charged with arson, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and eluding. They were transported to the Jackson Police Department, processed, and released.
