Tom Kean Just Lost His Bid For Re-Election Here’s Why

October 20, 2023

TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Republicans are looking for a hero to lead the party into a new future. That hero could have been Congressman Tom Kean, the son of former New Jersey Governor Tom Kean Sr.

Kean Jr., had a chance to show Republican voters there’s something exciting happening in the predominantly blue state.

Then, after getting pressure from the left after he voted for Jim Jordan to be the next speaker of the house, he caved. He voted against Jordan.

“For the past nearly three weeks, my number one priority has always been getting Congress moving again to do the work of the American people,” Kean said in a statement today. “With great respect, it has become evident that Chairman Jordan does not and will not have the votes to become Speaker.”

Then, he threw in the towel to the joy and excitement of the likes of Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

AOC almost celebrated the death threats received by Republican members of Congress over their vote for Jordan. Kean was sharply criticized on social media and scorned by the left after his vote.

“If House GOP want to stand for their families to receive anonymous political threats every time their leadership wants to push a tough vote, they can vote Jordan,” she said. “But they’d be fools to think this is the last time it happens. Members who vote for him affirm this kind of practice”

“Jim Jordan weaponized @JudiciaryGOP to spread white supremacist and antisemitic ideologies. Empowering him as Speaker would be incredibly dangerous. That’s why I’m joining @RepSummerLee and organizations nationwide on calling House Republicans to reject @Jim_Jordan,” Congresswoman Cori Bush wrote.

Kean’s vote aligned him with the far-left wing of the Democrat party today in defeating Jordan’s bid to become the next Speaker of the House. He also just shot down any hope of rallying Republican voters to the polls in November.
