TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River residents preparing for Medicare open enrollment can attend an informational meeting Wednesday at the township Senior Center.
The general membership meeting will begin at noon Sept. 16 at the Toms River Senior Center, 652 Garfield Avenue. Registration is required.
Meeting will cover plans, costs and coverage
Mayor Daniel Rodrick and the Senior Center are presenting the session with Arocho Medicare Insurance.
The meeting will cover Medicare updates, coverage choices and factors residents may want to consider when reviewing their healthcare needs and budgets. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
The program is intended for current Medicare recipients and people expecting to enroll during the next year. Light refreshments will be served.

Open enrollment starts Oct. 15
The annual Medicare open enrollment period runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. Coverage changes selected during that period generally take effect Jan. 1.
According to Medicare.gov, recipients can switch Medicare Advantage plans, add or change prescription drug coverage, move from Original Medicare to Medicare Advantage or return to Original Medicare.
Current recipients should review changes involving premiums, deductibles, prescription coverage and provider networks before selecting a plan.
Advance registration required
Residents must register for the Sept. 16 meeting by calling the Toms River Senior Center at 732-341-1000, extension 8460.
The center also has State Health Insurance Assistance Program counselors available to help residents with Medicare, prescription plans and other benefit programs.
