TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Township of Toms River and Mayor Maurice Hill today alerted the community that they are still enforcing Governor Phil Murphy’s executive orders that prohibit small mom and pop retail stores from allowing customers within their premise.  While you can go inside Target or Walmart in Toms River and still shop for clothes, Hill wanted to make sure residents and business owners know the rules.

“The Township would like to correct some false information that is being spread around on social media today,” Hill said today via the Toms River Township website. “Toms River has NOT lifted the ban on allowing customers into small retail/clothing businesses.”

That means if you open your store before Murphy allows, Toms River will take action, possibly even against customers, as that is also part of the Governor’s executive order.

“If you have questions about any of the Governor’s Executive orders and what is allowed and not allowed in Toms River, please contact us for clarity and information,” Hill’s administration said.
