Toms River political battle between Team Hill, Team Rodrick anticipated at tonight’s council meeting

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Two obvious political factions have arisen in Toms River. Those loyal to Toms River Mayor Maurice Hill, “Team Hill” and those sympathetic to the fight being waged against Hill by Councilman Daniel Rodrick, “Team Rodrick”.

This week, Team Hill continued to attack Rodrick after Rodrick defeated Hill’s agenda in last week’s fire commissioner election. Candidates aligned with Rodrick swept the Team Hill candidates, including incumbent commissioner Brian Geoghegan. Geoghegan was a staunch ally and political enforcer during Hill’s election that included Geohegan’s brother Kevin, who now serves on the town council.

In order to silence Rodrick, Kevin Geoghegan who serves as council president has censured Rodrick on multiple occasions for fighting against the Hill-Geoghegan agenda. Rodrick has railed against Hill and Geoghegan over the past two years and has opposed the pair’s agenda, including the abolition of the 10 acre house of worship zoning ordinance.

Tonight’s meeting starts at 6 p.m. and you can watch it live, here.
