TOMS RIVER, N.J. – Forget bingo night. Terese and Jay Connolly had something considerably bigger on their calendar Aug. 29: getting married.
The couple, both familiar faces at the Toms River Senior Center, tied the knot at Homestead Run, the Toms River community they call home. Mayor Daniel T. Rodrick traded municipal business for wedding duties and officiated the ceremony.
Friends and loved ones were there as Terese and Jay exchanged vows and officially started married life together. Toms River Township Government later shared the happy news with residents.
A Different Kind of Mayoral Duty
There were no ordinances to sign and no council votes to count. Rodrick’s job this time was simply to get the bride and groom married.
For Terese and Jay, the ceremony was also a celebration with the community they have built around them at Homestead Run and the Senior Center.

“We wish Terese and Jay a lifetime of love, laughter, companionship, and happiness,” the township wrote after the ceremony.
