Toms River Zoning Board Denies Six Story Apartment Building With Rooftop Deck

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Toms River Zoning Board has denied an application to build a six-story apartment building with a rooftop deck at the corner of Washington Street and Robbins Street. That building, proposed by 27 Washington Street, LLC was to be 73 feet tall, replacing a building that had previously burned in a fire.

The Zoning board cited downtown parking problems, lack of recreational space for residents and other congestion-related problems.

In essence, Downtown Toms River can’t support the new massive apartment projects suggested in the township’s downtown redevelopment plan.

While this project was denied, Toms River Mayor Maurice Hill is forging ahead with his politically aligned members of the township council to allow more high-density apartment towers in the downtown area.
