Tornado Watch Severe Flood Warning Issued for Parts of New Jersey Tonight

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Residents and visitors of inland portions of Ocean County, New Jersey, are being urged to brace for potentially hazardous weather conditions in the coming hours. The National Weather Service has also issued a Tornado Watch for several locations in New Jersey, including Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Salem, and Warren counties.

The forecast for the Jersey Shore region through tonight includes the possibility of scattered severe thunderstorms. These storms could bring damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning, creating hazardous conditions for the area. Residents are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions to stay safe during these weather events.

Furthermore, there is a heightened risk of flooding in certain areas, particularly in urban and poor-drainage locations, as well as near small creeks and streams that are vulnerable to rising water levels. Given the potential for heavy rain, residents in flood-prone regions are encouraged to monitor local authorities’ updates and be prepared to take action if necessary.

The expected weather pattern for tonight includes showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 am. The storms may produce significant rainfall and could be severe in some instances. Following the storm activity, there is a possibility of patchy fog developing after 1 am. The low temperature for the night is expected to be around 69 degrees Fahrenheit, with a south wind of 10 to 15 mph.

The National Weather Service has assigned an 80% chance of precipitation for this period, with new rainfall amounts projected to be between a quarter and half of an inch.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and stay tuned to local weather updates for any changes or developments. If you are located in the affected areas, make sure to take appropriate safety measures and be prepared to seek shelter in case severe weather conditions worsen.
