Toronto police arrest suspect in Buffalo carjacking that left woman assaulted

BUFFALO, N.Y. – A suspect has been arrested in Canada following a violent carjacking in Buffalo that left a woman assaulted and her vehicle stolen, police announced Saturday.

According to the Buffalo Police Department, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. Friday in a parking lot on Michigan Avenue, where a female victim was forcibly removed from her vehicle by an unidentified male who then fled in her car.

Detectives launched an investigation and quickly identified a suspect. The stolen vehicle was later located in Toronto, Ontario, where police arrested the man after determining he was driving the victim’s car.

The suspect is currently in custody with the Toronto Police Service. Buffalo police said they are working with federal and Canadian authorities on extradition procedures to bring the man back to New York to face charges related to the assault and vehicle theft.
