ANGOLA, DE – Delaware State Police arrested two people from Maryland after a high-speed pursuit ended in a crash near Long Neck on Sunday night.
Around 9:14 p.m. on July 27, a trooper saw a Toyota GR86 speeding eastbound on John J. Williams Highway near Banks Road. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the driver turned southbound on Sloan Road, switched off the headlights, and continued fleeing. The car failed to negotiate a curve, overturned, and came to a stop.
Troopers identified the occupants as 21-year-old Jeremy Rodriguez Sepulveda of Salisbury and 19-year-old Tina Berry of Delmar. Both were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Berry initially claimed to be the driver, but investigators determined Rodriguez Sepulveda had been behind the wheel during the pursuit.
After being released from the hospital, both suspects were transported to Troop 7 and charged with multiple felony offenses. Rodriguez Sepulveda was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on his own recognizance.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Delaware State Police Troop 7 at 302-644-5020 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
