Tractor trailer blocks Virginia Avenue underpass in Allegany County

CUMBERLAND, MD – Traffic was halted Monday morning after a tractor-trailer became stuck beneath the Virginia Avenue underpass, forcing authorities to close the roadway.

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office said the underpass is currently blocked and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.

No injuries have been reported.

Roadway shut down as crews respond

The incident occurred earlier Monday, blocking all lanes beneath the underpass and disrupting morning traffic in the area. Deputies are assisting with traffic control while tow and recovery crews work to remove the truck safely.

Authorities are urging motorists to plan ahead and avoid Virginia Avenue until the roadway reopens. Updates will be shared by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office once the underpass is cleared and safe for travel.
