Trading card thief walks out of Stafford store without paying deputies say

STAFFORD, VA — A suspected shoplifter walked out of a Stafford County bookstore carrying trading cards without paying after asking employees to view the items, authorities said.

Deputy Daigle responded Thursday, May 7, at about 5:50 p.m. to Books-A-Million located near 1240 Stafford Marketplace for a reported larceny, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the suspect approached employees and requested to see trading cards before taking possession of the merchandise.

Surveillance footage later showed the suspect walking around the store before passing all points of sale and leaving without paying, authorities said.

No suspect has been identified at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
