Bicyclist killed in Neptune Township crash as investigation remains ongoing

NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP, NJ – A man riding a bicycle was killed Monday night after a collision with a vehicle on a busy stretch of roadway in Neptune Township, prompting an active investigation by local and county authorities.

The fatal crash occurred around 7:05 p.m. on October 6 in the area of Corlies Avenue (NJ Route 33 West) and South Main Street (NJ Route 71), where officers from the Neptune Township Police Department responded to reports of a crash involving a cyclist and a motor vehicle.

The male bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not released his identity pending family notification.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed Wednesday that the incident remains under investigation by its office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Neptune Township Police Department. Investigators have not disclosed whether any charges are being considered or what circumstances may have led to the crash.

The roadway was temporarily closed during the evening hours as investigators documented the scene and collected evidence.
