TRENTON, N.J. — A Trenton man has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly April shooting that left one man dead and a woman injured, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey announced Wednesday.

Naquan Green, 37, was taken into custody Monday in Ewing by members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force. He faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Green pending trial.

Early morning gunfire kills one, injures another

At approximately 4:14 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, Trenton police heard multiple gunshots while in the area of 300 East State Street. Officers were also dispatched to a ShotSpotter activation reporting multiple rounds.

Responding officers located two gunshot victims—a man and a woman—on the 200 block of East State Street. Both were transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Marquis Skillman, 38, of Trenton, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The 39-year-old woman sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her leg.

Investigators did not immediately identify a suspect following the shooting.

Arrest made nine days after fatal incident

Authorities tracked Green to Ewing, where he was arrested without incident by federal marshals. The prosecutor’s office moved quickly to seek pretrial detention while the case proceeds.

The motive for the shooting has not been disclosed. The Mercer County Homicide Task Force continues to investigate the incident.
