Trenton Man Faces Charges in Deadly Shooting

TRENTON, NJ—The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the arrest of Divon Ray, a 24-year-old Trenton resident, following a deadly shooting incident. Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri stated that the combined efforts of the Mercer County Homicide Task Force (MCHTF) and the Trenton Shooting Response Team led to the charges.

Ray is accused of first-degree murder in the death of 30-year-old Samier Vincent, along with eight counts of first-degree attempted murder and various weapons offenses. Authorities apprehended Ray in Trenton this past Wednesday, and a motion has been filed to detain him pending trial.

The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024, when Trenton police were alerted by Shot Spotter to gunfire on the 100 block of Walnut Avenue. Responding officers found four adults with gunshot wounds. All victims were rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Vincent, who suffered a critical head/neck gunshot wound, succumbed to his injuries on June 27. Two other victims were treated and released, while a 29-year-old female remains hospitalized in serious condition.

The investigation continues, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact MCHTF Detective Jennifer Eyster at (609) 989-6406 or Sgt. Roberto Reyes at (609) 256-0997. Tips can also be emailed to mchtftips@mercercounty.org.
